MEET CLAY'BAMA

(3 Minute Read)

A wise one once told me, “people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.” A saying I still hold and value close to my heart to this day. About three years ago I walked into a bar named Kings and Queens. But to my surprise, what I walked into was much bigger than I ever anticipated. I walked into a Clay Bama’s performance. The words, “non-violent,” were being chanted throughout the entire establishment. Not only are these words powerful but its presence could be felt as well. I was moved. But being the shy journalist I once was, I never introduced myself. Three years later, ‘1999,’ and this time, I had to reach out to him.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Clay this past weekend in Painesville at one of his performances. And he is as great a person as his music. Clay Bama is a hardworking people person who tries to give back to his community of Dayton as often as he can. Which is where he lived during his childhood. He is also family man. “The one message I want to send to my children to is to work hard.” Something he feels whole heartily about and can be heard and felt through his music. Clay started writing music when he was nine years old and was strongly influenced from church. Once older, although a music lover, he did not start out pursuing music. He attended CSU for a short while, studying nursing then physical therapy, then finally realizing this was not his passion. From then on, Bama promised himself to live for his self. “I think I got into nursing because that was what my momma does.” Clay’s lyrics speak of bettering one’s self, homeownership and self-confidence. Amazing, uplifting content I feel can inspire just about anyone.

HXSTL, pronounced hustle, is another instant hit. Not only is the hook just as catchy as his other songs, but the production on the track is insane. Production was done by Lordnique. This is another track that proves his positive outlook on life.

Clay has plenty of content on Youtube, Apple Music and many other major platforms. Be on the lookout for this up and coming hot artist, I promise he’s everything the industry is missing.
